About
Yavuz Fırat
I’m a lawyer based in Ankara, registered with the Ankara Bar Association (Registration No. 38499). I graduated from Atılım University Faculty of Law in 2018. My practice focuses on data protection, administrative law, and criminal defense, and I work across active litigation, regulatory compliance, and legal document drafting.
Alongside my legal practice, I founded and develop DataBlind — a zero-access document anonymization platform built for legal and healthcare professionals. The idea came from a recurring problem in my own practice: sharing case files, medical reports, and contracts for review or consultation purposes while staying compliant with KVKK and GDPR obligations. Existing tools either required uploading sensitive documents to third-party servers or fell short of the anonymization standards that Turkish and European data protection rules actually demand.
DataBlind takes a different approach. All processing happens in the user’s browser — documents never leave the device. The architecture is designed so that we, as the service provider, have no access to user data at any stage. This “zero-access” model is what makes the platform genuinely compatible with the professional secrecy obligations lawyers and healthcare workers already carry.
I handle DataBlind’s product direction and most of the development myself. The platform is available at datablind.io.
Working across both sides — legal practice and building a legal-tech product — shapes how I think about each. Cases show me where existing tools fall short. Building software forces me to be precise about what the law actually requires, and what it doesn’t. The notes I publish on this site tend to come from that intersection.
